Applied via LinkedIn, received a call a week later from the internal Recruiter to be told I was shortlisted for interview. Had a phone screening a week later with the hiring manager, which went well and I received feedback that I had progressed to the next stage, a presentation the following week. The recruiter told me that if i smashed it, i would likely receive an offer the day afterwards. I spent all weekend preparing for the presentation, which went well. However it was from there that things started to go downhill.
I had no feedback for two days, until the Friday when I called the Recruiter and he told me that the role hadn't even been signed off yet by the CEO. He told me that the CEO was having a meeting with the HR director about the role the following week - which didn't happen. I was told about 5 times after the interview that I should have an answer "next week", telling me different things each time. When I finally received a phone call from him it was to tell me that they had candidates they were making offers to but I was the "backup option" - no other feedback, no apology. no thanks for my time and patience. I of course withdrew my application.
This has been an incredibly difficult time for me and all the jobseekers who have been affected by CV-19, and the very least a company can do when a candidate has spent days prepping for an interview is to offer feedback and keep the candidate updated on what's going on. I worked very hard on the presentation and have had zero back. Very disappointing and disrespectful and has definitely affected my confidence.
