The interview process was not a good experience for me. The location was at a brokerage office called Mitch Phelps in Charlotte, NC. For beginners, its was not a one on one interview, but rather an "orientation" is the best way to describe it. I sat with a group of about 8 to 10 people. The CEO stated that it would only take 45 minutes and i was there for an hour and half. He spend most of the time talking about himself and glorifying how his fellow associates make 6 figure income. He never went into detail about the job description itself or what the "specific duties" include. Most of the orientation went over all the benefits and example rates on what they offer to customers, and how much customers can benefit from us. I mean, they seemed like forever they spoke about how the company benefits customer, which is all information i could have looked on the actual website and found out myself if i wanted. They went on and on about example rates and numbers that went in one ear and out the other. All information I didn't care much about because my main concern during my "FIRST INTERVIEW" is to discuss if i would be a perfect fit for the job (especially since i never sold insurance before). I did raise my hand to ask him why exactly the job duties are and all he kept saying was that they give us leads. When i asked him to explain in detail he insisted that he already explained the duties, dismissed me, and made me feel like i was asking a stupid question. I never got a full understanding of what i would be doing and at the end of this "interview/orientation" the CEO left the room without asking if anyone had any questions for him. Just told us to fill out a questionnaire and that they will call us if they are interested. How are you actually getting to know your "potential" sales people like this? It would have been nice if he explained for example: How many days or hours a week are we on the phone? How many calls per week/day are we expected to do? Are we getting warm or cold leads? Are we doing door to door sales and if so how much of that is expected? Do we get customers that call into the office? Do we get reimbursed for any travel expenses. What does a typical day look like? What is the breakdown of the commission? ALL QUESTIONS THAT WERE EITHER NEVER DISCUSSED, WAS NEVER ANSWERED OR GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY TO ANSWER.
