I received a phone call from this company after I had posted my resume on CareerBuilder looking for employment in another field. The man on the phone asked if I would be interested in scheduling an interview to learn more about their company and discuss potential employment. I accepted and scheduled an interview for the next day because, well, an interview is an interview. After I had scheduled, he strongly encouraged me to do some research online and visit the company website before I came in so that I would be prepared and would have an idea of what their company was about. I found this very interesting, because recently I had another interview with one of Liberty National's sister companies and was not impressed with the experience. I did as he suggested and found the ratings on this website to be surprisingly positive. I specifically paid attention to company reviews that were located in this area, as each branch operates differently depending on the person running it. Though I was still a little hesitant, I went in for the interview, bringing in a copy of the negative reviews and warnings about the company that I had found during my search. Playing my cards close to my chest, I didn't reveal much of what I'd found until the presentation was over. There had been some warnings online about how certain information is kept from interviewees by the recruiters in an effort to make the job seem more appealing. When I went in the office was nearly empty, and the first portion of my interview was done one-on-one with the gentleman who had called me. He did an extensive review of my resume and asked me several questions about my previous employment and the volunteer work that was listed. Afterwards I was asked to stay for the group presentation (the group consisted of me and one other individual), where the owner of the branch himself came in to speak with us. He was very upfront and clear about everything the job would entail and even offered some specifics about growth projection. All the warnings I had read about were clearly laid out in detail before the floor was even opened for questions. The branch owner even warned us about the type of personality he had and that sometimes it could come off poorly with some people. I found his honest to be very reassuring, so when I was called about a follow-up interview, I accepted.
