After applying on Indeed for the Marketing Specialist position at "The Mayo Agencies and Legacy", I was skeptical, knowing insurance companies often pull the bait and switch on jobs, so I e-mailed asking for a more detailed job description. They told me they couldn't do this because they build their positions around their people. Decided to go in for it just to see, sat down with someone about 2 minutes before a group interview, told him I was looking for marketing. Got into the group interview, sat next to a person who applied for "sales agent" and one who applied for "training and development manager". They continued the interview, slowly explaining that we were actually applying for an insurance agent position (all of us), even though not once during the interview did I even hear marketing (only sales- which I don't want a job revolving around). The explained they also have their agents train other new agents (hence the "training and development" portion) and went on about how much money you could make, and even more over time. Also, they said this was going to take an hour and a half, and it was almost 3 hours before we finished. The position itself sounded like a great opportunity for someone who was looking for a long-term career as an insurance agent (truly! at least the way they made it sound!) So if that's what you are looking for, go for it! However, if you are like me or others looking to do something completely different, don't waste your time- especially for 3 hours.
