The interview process comprised four sections: three calls and a task. The first two Zoom calls were positive; I enjoyed talking to both the in-house recruiter and my would-be manager and learnt a lot about the company and role from our conversations. There was a gap of a week between these two calls, and after another two weeks, I was asked to do a task. After doing the task, I was told that "the feedback from your take-home test has been really positive and we would like to arrange for you to meet a couple more people from the Go1 team." After another week of waiting, I met with another manager from the team. This call was NOT a positive experience. They seemed annoyed to even be on the call with me and warped a lot of what I said. This confused me and felt intentional. Still, I felt I had answered their questions well and that perhaps I had just read the room wrong. That was not the case... After waiting weeks between interviews, I received an email two days after the call saying that I would not be offered the role. No explanation as to why or any feedback. Only that they didn't think they could offer me the experience I was looking for. I felt upset as I'd had such a positive experience, and the final call felt more like a formality (which is usually the case after four interviews). I replied, asking why they felt that way and for feedback on my interviews, etc.

 I quickly received a rather rude reply saying that I had done the task wrong. Then why send me positive feedback and put me through to the next round? And in my final call, I had “raised concerns about managing expectations in a team where everyone contributes equally.” I was unaware of their equal team structure as it was never mentioned. My “concerning” reply, was that if a senior manager/lead asked me to prioritise a piece of work I would. This doesn’t seem unreasonable and was an answer based on experience. I later spoke to a friend who had interviewed with them and had the same experience, down to the copy+paste email telling them they would not be offered the role. 

Overall, this interview process felt like a waste of my, and Go1’s, time.
