The role was farmed through a recruiter. The interviewers seemed unprepared, uninterested and had very little to say about the role, nor did they seem to want to get to know me as a person or about my background, history or technical skill beyond some really high level basics and a few functional questions about my last role.
They asked a few technical throwaway questions, then I drove the rest of the interview asking about documentation, technical details, oncall, infrastructure, pain points, staffing / structure, endpoints, uptime expectation, environment constraints etc - all of which they seemed annoyed that I was asking about in the first place.
After a follow up with the recruiter - I was informed that they went with an internal candidate, so I am of the belief that they were never even interested in interviewing external candidates for this position and were doing it as a formality.
I am marking this as difficult because I basically felt like I interviewed myself and simultaneously sold myself to an audience that wasn't interested from the start.
