I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Goldman Sachs (Salt Lake City, UT) in Jan 2011
Interview
The interview process was fairly straight forward and simple. It consisted of 2 30-min 1:1 interviews with people from different departments at Goldman Sachs. The first interviewer was very business-like and serious, having been in the industry for many years. There were many specific questions he was asking, wanting a lot of detail about different experiences and situation you have had. The second interview was two people both of whom were very personable and friendly and treated the interview as more of a conversation than an interview. They had been though the intern program and were able to offer a good perspective on what the position was like. Overall it was a good experience and mostly consisted of behavioral and personality type questions. The HR department was hard to get in touch with however they final called me with their decision about a month after the initial interview.
The initial round of online assessment was moderate and I was able to solve them. The group discussion round consisted of 8-10 people in each group and we were asked to talk about a given topic. Two interviewers analysed our speech, body language, and other criteria. There were two more interview round, technical and HR.
