I was contacted for a first round interview and within the first five min the recruiter ran through a list of reasons for why I'm not suited for the role. I had not even answered any interview questions before she did that. The role had 3 years of DEI experience as a preferred qualification, I had 2.5 years. The recruiter had zero emotional intelligence, and when I asked why I was chosen for an interview when she so clearly was against my candidacy, the response was "I don't know, I'm just filling in for another recruiter who is out." They don't seem to know what they're doing here and for a firm that has a DEI department, I felt very disrespected and psychologically unsafe. I would have preferred a rejection email over whatever that phony "interview" was.
