      Executive Secretary Interview

      Nov 23, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Akron, OH
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Goodyear (Akron, OH) in Jul 2018

      Interview

Upon arriving at the beautiful Goodyear facility in Akron after driving several hours, I was greeted by a long line at the Security desk (15+). Since my interview was in 20 minutes, a very nice HR Coordinator came down and took me out of the line per her manager's instructions to ensure I was not late meeting the VPs of Human Resources. The coordinator first stopped and explained to Security the urgency and her manager's instructions explaining that she would return with my information. The Security officer gave his permission. After proceeding through the Security gate, some unknown Goodyear female associate who was standing around having Starbucks came running after the HR Coordinator and me (interview candidate). She stated that since the HR Coordinator looked "young" that she must not have known what she was doing. The Goodyear female associate even stated that she was not a Security person but just was standing in the lobby enjoying her Starbucks. She was so insulting and discriminating to the HR Coordinator, that I stood there in disbelief along with others looking on. I offered my drivers license to the HR Coordinator to leave with Security. This unknown female then proceeded to argue with the young HR Coordinator making me (the candidate) and others in the lobby shocked at her rudeness and embarrassed at the scene she was causing. After this welcome, it was very difficult staying focused during the interview with the HR VPs since I was fuming at the way the HR Coordinator was insulted and treated. The HR VPs were both great but the initial reception and scene caused by someone who was just "hanging out" at Starbucks in the Goodyear lobby made me decide that I would not want to work for a company where ALL associates weren't respected. I withdrew from consideration.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

All of the questions presented by both VPs of Human Resources were terrific, very transparent. It showed their awareness of the sometimes difficult role of an executive secretary/assistant.
