I got an employee referral from a current Google Research employee.
I had 2 phones interviews (one with a Software Engineer and one with a current Google Research researcher).
The first one was focused solely on my programming skills and the second one was a mix of open-ended research questions and programming.
The second one went surprisingly bad with the interviewer being pretty rude.

Basic Python question with dictionaries
I submitted my resume for a researcher position. I had an interview with a human HR representative, which made the process feel more personalized and engaging. I didn't meet the requirements, but it gives me the belief that I could do it and be accepted by whom.
The Google interview process involves multiple rounds, starting with a phone screening, followed by technical interviews assessing problem-solving, coding, and system design, and concluding with behavioral interviews evaluating cultural fit.
I had the initial interview. I believe it went well in general. But, I needed to be better prepared for coding questions and I could not pass the first interview. I figured out that I needed to practice speaking out loud and clear when I was solving problems. The more I would get used to the interview format, the better I could.
