I applied online. I interviewed at Google (Mountain View, CA) in Oct 2020
Interview
Very clumsy and dishonest screening. Nobody from Google showed up at the first scheduled Google Meet online interview. The recruiters insinuated that I didn't show up! The next phase was the "active writing test." This consisted of a passage of incomplete and confusing draft information that a Google writer made up. The "test" consisted of editing it and commenting on the edits. The Google writer conducting the this "test" seemed a little put off when I asked standard questions about who the audience profiles were supposed to be. The whole process felt phony and poorly scripted. At the end, the Google writer made a vague positive comment about my effort. When I asked specifically what he thought was good about it, he was caught off guard, paused and just made up a fluff comment. This whole process came across as arrogant, poorly done, and fake.
