      Vice President Interview

      Oct 4, 2012

      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Grand Circle Travel (Boston, MA) in Sep 2012

      Interview

I was asked to attend a group interview, which felt like a MBA task, and then individual interviews after that. The group activity was actually fun and I could appreciate why they would include this in the process. The facilitator was passionate and very knowledgable about Grand Circle and their core values. She was a great facilitator. We had to do an "egg drop" and work together as a team to try and not let it break and give a presentation about the egg. We also had to do a case study reading about a disaster and what steps we would take to address the situation. After group interview, if you pass, they move you on to in-person. I had felt all went well and that I was as articulate and specific as I could be - giving examples and focusing on my personal credentials while understanding the role and what I could contribute. Results were favorable after the group and in-person. Next step was an online "personality" test of some kind. Actually two that took 20 minutes each. It was difficult to not think about the answers given I would normally take these tests after being hired, not before, when you are much more likely to "be yourself". Despite efforts to not over think this, I felt I likely did. The results were very far off base which was disappointing and lead me to know I did overthink the test despite warnings and my attempts not to. I would say mabye 30% accurate base on past tests I've taken of the same type. I never was told why I went from an extremely favorable position to not hearing any reason other than they were not moving forward. I am only making assumptions at this point which is disappointing, given how much they pride themselves on open and candid feedback, which I would have valued to continue to learn and improve, especially given the time committment to the process and the continued positive feedback until I heard nothing.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

None were difficult or unexpected. Most had been asked before. Group interview might be the most challenging for some people, but our group seemed to enjoy it.
