My experience with Granite’s hiring process was frustrating and confusing. Based on the communication I received, I was given the clear impression that things were moving in a positive direction. I was encouraged to “be patient” because I would be hearing back soon, which suggested I was still being seriously considered.
Instead, weeks passed with no communication at all. No updates, no timelines, and no acknowledgment of the delay — just silence. Then I received a generic rejection email at 2 AM with no explanation.
What makes this even worse is that the job posting remained actively open after I was rejected, meaning they are still searching for the “right” candidate. This makes the earlier messaging — telling me to be patient and implying progress — feel misleading and unprofessional.
The hiring manager’s process comes across as indecisive and poorly managed. Leaving candidates waiting with vague reassurance, then rejecting them while keeping the posting open, reflects a lack of clarity and organizational alignment. It ultimately sends a message that candidates’ time is not valued.
If you encourage a candidate to be patient or give the impression that they are still being considered, please provide clear and timely updates. Leaving the position open for an extended period after rejecting candidates signals poor internal communication and indecisive decision-making. It reflects negatively on the hiring manager and the overall professionalism of the process.
