I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Grant Thornton (Los Angeles, CA)
Interview
The interview process went well. It was very straightforward and conversational, 30 minute interview on campus. The manager was nice and easy-going. He asked about why I'm interested in accounting specifically (since I'm a Business major not Accounting), and told me about his experience in the auditing field. You should be able to convey coherently WHY you want your specific role and how you can contribute to their team.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why accounting? Why auditing specifically? What makes you a good candidate? Name a time when you encountered difficulty.
The first round of interviews was a group interview with four people, followed by an English essay. Neither the interview questions nor the essay topic had anything to do with auditing, and the interview questions seemed to be fixed; some interviewees even knew the questions beforehand. If that's true, I think it's unfair.
The interview process at Grant Thornton typically involves multiple stages, including an initial phone screening, a behavioral interview, and a technical or case-based assessment. Candidates may also meet with managers or partners. The process emphasizes cultural fit, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities, often concluding with a final round or offer discussion
