      Customer Success Manager Interview

      Mar 22, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Denver, CO
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Greenhouse Software (Denver, CO) in Mar 2019

      Interview

I applied for the position and received a response the next day that they would like to set up a phone interview. I was sent a calendar link where I could chose a day and time for the call. All I was told was that it had to be the following week. The calendar was wide open and I chose a day and time that fit my schedule. Later that day, I received an email from the same recruiter that I had been dealing with, telling me that that day didn’t work and she wanted me to chose another one. When I did that, I received another email letting me know that my day and time didn’t work for them. She then asked me to do it again. This time, there were times loaded into the calendar for me to choose. At this point, I wasn’t very impressed with the company since they are in the recruiting software business. Why would they send out a blank calendar if there are times that don't work? Isn't that the point of a calendar system? I had my phone interview and as potential employees, we never really know what they are looking for in order to get past this screening call. I did my best to answer his questions in an authentic manner but I never felt like I clicked with the person on the other end of the line. I felt like he was asking the questions that were on the piece of paper in front of him, as opposed to trying to learn about me. Based on what business they are in, I was very unimpressed with my overall experience. I realize that I wasn't a fit for them for whatever reason, but I don't think they would have been a fit for me, either.

Hey - thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We rely on candidate feedback to help us learn and improve our process. I apologize for the miscommunication early in the process. We typically ask candidates to use the calendar to “indicate several blocks of time” that they’re available for an initial phone call; we then respond with a confirmation of the time and date for the interview. It sounds like we may not have been super clear this time - and that’s a training opportunity for us. For all of our interviews, we do follow a structured process. Meaning, we ask all candidates the same questions in order to create an even playing field and allow for consistent assessments. It’s an intentional part of our process that’s intended to reduce bias. We’re always happy to learn more, so please feel free to reach out directly if you’d like to discuss in more detail. So this process is Intense but it makes sense as to why it is this way. They want to make sure you are a good fit and understand what you are getting into. Just be yourself and not give stale answers (try telling stories) and be about the customer. 1. Initial phone screen 2. Meeting with Potential Manager 3. Presentation on a project they give you 4. 3 hour panel Interview I go through all the rounds and they made me an offer today! Im so happy!
