Overall, it was a great experience. I first spoke with xAd's Lead Talent Acquisition person. She and I communicated on InMail and Jobvite to schedule the initial phone interview. Her response time was quick and she followed through on all of her actions. The Jobvite portal was an effective tool to share and schedule events.
The phone interview with the TA lasted about 30-mins. She talked about xAd and an overview of the position. She was very cordial and very knowledgeable about the company, policies and products. I researched most of my questions beforehand so I did not go into any detail questions.
The follow-up interview was with the hiring manager, VP of Engineering. It was scheduled for an hour and went by quickly. It was more of a discussion then an interview and focused a lot on how would you resolve X scenario and behavioral types of questions. The conversation was fluid and 2-way which I really appreciate and enjoyed. I've been in interviews where the hiring manager just wants to grill you or display his/her authority. Totally opposite with the VP. He was very cordial, easy to talk to and even shared 1 of his war stories with me. I appreciated his honesty.
Unfortunately I was not selected for the position. I was informed directly by the recruiter and the hiring manager via email. This was a good personal touch. Anyone who has interviewed have heard about or have directly experienced the long wait of not knowing what the outcome is after an interview. Definitely not the case with xAd.
What I learned from my LinkedIn research and the interviewing process: xAd promotes a lot from within and is expanding rapidly. Good place to grow and develop your career. Very technical team, Sr. Mgnt and Executives spend ~20% with hands-on coding. Big growth plan in FY16. I only communicated with 3 people during the interviewing process, but all were super nice so that left a good impression with me.
