      Associate - London Office Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Guidepoint (London, England) in Apr 2018

      Interview

      - Submit CV and covering letter online. - First round is the telephone interview - informal conversation with a friendly woman. Walking through my CV and current situation. When I could start. What does the role involve? What attracts you to it? What qualities would this job require? Give me a time when you have demonstrated problem solving (I think they pick and choose the competencies for an example). Then, she emails you by the end of the week with an outcome. Second round interview - a formal interview in the head office. Nice, modern but small office in Piccadilly Circus. They have recently grown and expanded from Charing Cross I believe. The first interview here was with a woman (project manager) for around 15 minutes. Questions included: tell me about yourself, what responsibilities do you have in your current role, what qualities does this role require, what attracts you to Guidepoint, the industry and the role. Who are our clients (corporate multinationals, hedge funds, private equity firms, consulting firms). What obstacles are facing the industry or could potentially. What is our USP? Who are our competitors. Where else have you applied and why? How far along are you in those applications? Decision making if offered multiple roles. Short and long-term goals? Then, she left and two men came to interview me for around 15 minutes asking similar questions but also competencies related to the role. What do hedge funds, consulting firms and private equity firms do? Where do they invest? How comfortable are you using the telephone? Any experience with cold-calling? Are you money hungry? What are you looking for in a company environment? Desired qualities for your new boss? I received a rejection email a few days later unfortunately. Good luck to everyone applying! I would say, be confident, do a lot of research on the firm, role and industry. I think the next round after this is a mock test and then you discuss the results and why you did what you did in the test so be prepared to defend yourself.
