      Account Executive Interview

      Sep 30, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at HHAeXchange (New York, NY) in Apr 2021

      Interview

A few calls and then the final step is a mock demo. They expect you to know everything about their product rather than focusing on your selling skills. The sales managers all came off very aggressive and cold - certainly individuals who I would never want to report to. Side note - I've heard horror stories from previous employees after I interviewed there. Stay away.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at HHAeXchange (New York, NY) in Apr 2019

      Interview

Phone calls with 2 recruiters from a firm, which also included a questionnaire. After that, there was a phone interview with the SVP sales / marketing. The next step would've been an in-person interview and mock presentation. Sales leader was very particular and caught up in the numbers, didn't ask anything about my success/weaknesses in previous sales roles and the phone interview was going south. He didn't want me to come in, which I didn't mind because we weren't clicking on a business level. When it was my turn to ask questions, he was giving me one word answers, or not answering them at all. I asked these 2 questions (responses below): 1. Who are you biggest competitors and what are your strengths against them? A: You do your own research, I'm not going to tell you who our competitors are. I'm completely new to the industry, and you want me to do my own research? Is that what you say to your current sales people when they have a question? I expect a sales leader to help me out when I have a question, not tell me to do my research especially when it comes to competitors. Sounds more like a boss than a leader. 2. What are the company's strengths and weaknesses? A: No problem answering the strengths. For weaknesses, the SVP said that no company is perfect and we can all improve. Okay, that doesn't answer my question though. I need to know what I'm getting myself into and not figuring it out once I get the position.
