I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at HSBC (Singapore) in Jan 2021
Interview
Excessively long process just to get through HR to the decisionmakers. They gave me a verbal offer but never followed up with anything on paper, which kept me on the hook for a few additional months. Very negative experience.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Lots of focus on compliance -- I thought this was reasonable. Questions about how I would strategically engage with the role -- I'm not sure if they were just trying to pick my brains for ideas here.
I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at HSBC (London, England) in Feb 2010
Interview
Unstructured and a waste of time. Badly chaired interview panel which allowed the discussion to introspect on the bank itself, and very rarely probed the skills / work history of the interviewee to match the prospective job. Advice to future candidates: prepare heavily the points you wish to make and do not be diverted by the inadequacies of the individuals you encounter.
