I interviewed through a recruiter. The founder Shy organized a phone interview with me & did not show up. I didn't receive an email that he would have to cancel, nor did I receive any updates post-cancellation. Later on, the recruiter reached out to me to see how the interview went. I told her what happened and she apologized for the lack of professionalism on their part and arranged another interview.
During the second interview, I could tell the interviewer either had never conducted an interview before or had minimal people skills. As an example instead of asking me questions on my skills listed on my resume, or Hungry's specific software stack, he attempted to quiz me on random frameworks. Later it was confirmed by the recruiter that none of these frameworks are used in their stack. After an increasingly acrimonious interview session, I decided to look up the engineer who interviewed me. He was a junior engineer that had just graduated college and worked at Hungry for less than a year (most as an intern). A confirmation of my suspicions( I'm a Sr. Engineer).
Post 15min phone interview the recruiter followed up with a rejection letter and shared the interviewer's feedback. "He is used to slow-moving government jobs" Another testament to the interviewer's lack of experience (I've only had one year working in the government, with his lack of experience he was unable to differentiate that some companies have private & public sectors). I also shared how the 'interview' was based around minor frameworks and she too shared her confusion as to why those questions where asked as they are not part of their stack.
The recruiter reached out to them about the feedback and then shared that they "weren't sure if they were ready to hire someone at this time".
