I had a really laid-back initial interview where we got to know each other and they told me about the role. Then I did the challenge—it took me quite a while, but I had fun. And they congratulated me.

Question 1
Describe myself, and they ask me about my day to day work
I applied online. I interviewed at HappyRobot (Madrid) in Apr 2026
Interview
The initial interview was with a recruiter and was very straightforward. She asked question about my technical background and whether I had heard of HappyRobot before. It went well and she immediately told me she'd send me to the next stage, the technical challenge. She told me that I would have to submit the technical challenge and IF it was considered to be a pass, only then there'd be another interview. She also asked me to complete the technical challenge within 5 days. The challenge involves setting up your own workflow for a call agent in their platform, creating and deploying your own API, creating a dashboard and also submitting documentation and a demo video to them. Considering the timeline and the fact that I was working full time, this was not reasonable in terms of workload. I ended up completing and submitting the challenge anyway, upon which I heard exactly zero from them. I followed up with the recruiter after about ten days and received no response. After two weeks I emailed the person I submitted the challenge to and directly asked for feedback. I heard nothing from them but the recruiter emailed me shortly afterwards that my challenge had been unsuccessful. The feedback was very high-level and extremely unspecific. To this day I'm not sure if they really reviewed my challenge. A technical interview with the chance to present the challenge would've been the better choice here in my opinion. Overall, this experience left me feeling as if I'd put in a lot of work to then essentially be ghosted. Would not recommend.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at HappyRobot in May 2026
Interview
I was contacted by a Happy Robot Recruiter. The first round of the interview was a 30-minute phone screen. It went well, and I proceeded to the next round, which is the take-home assessment. The assessment involved building an AI sales agent on the Happy Robot Platform and building a dashboard that integrates with the AI sales agent. The dashboard needs to be deployed on a Cloud Platform. The final submission should include a build description, the happy robot workflow, a demo video, and a link to the deployed dashboard and the code repo. After completing the assessment, they replied that we are not moving forward now. We will reconsider you after 6 months.
