My first interview was both the screening call and the hiring manager interview, as I would have been reporting to this person.
She said usually there are five rounds, but in this case there would be four. The initial call went very well, we were both candid, she said there were no hesitations about my qualifications and she thought I'd be a great fit, she'd send over the project I'd need to complete for the role shortly.
I still handn't received the project as of a couple of days later, so I reached out. She apologized, and asked if we could speak, so we scheduled a call for a week after our initial call. I thought for sure she was going to tell me I wasn't a fit, but our call went well! She said she had another role in mind for me, but that I could interview for both if I'd like. She told me she would send over the project for the Sr. Talent Partner role, and the details for the new role.
The other person I would be interviewing with was out for a week, so she said I'd have a few extra days to complete the project while this person was out - normally they'd give candidates two days.
Upon receiving the project, it stated it should only take 60-90 minutes. I was really, really excited about this role and working for this company. I'd heard of them before interviewing, and what they're doing resonates with me quite well. That being said, I worked on the project for 30 hours, personalizing the entire thing and really enjoying myself during the process. I sent it in two days early.
After a week of not hearing anything, I reached out and was told that they were busy, but I'd hear back soon. Another week passed, and I reached out again. I was told I'd have a response by the end of the week. It has now been six weeks since my initial interview, and I have heard nothing. Not even about the additional position that I never applied for, but was suggested to me!
This entire process was a complete letdown, and waste of my time. Being ghosted makes me feel like my project was taken as free work that they can now use as their own. As someone who genuinely appreciates what this company is doing and was really into the interviews and the process, I am extremely disappointed.
