Interview
The sales interview is pretty absurd. I think you’d find it difficult to find a background that aligns more closely with this role than mine (I have a strong clinical + sales background) yet I didn’t move to the next round due to a pitch on Airbnb where my interviewer was incredibly vague. You gotta roll with the cards dealt sometimes but I couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of this circus of an interview.
I’m certain the person who came up with this style of interview, has no idea what they’re doing. They’ll have you do a take home assignment, a pitch that has no correlation to headway, a behavioral interrogation (read past reviews on this), and a 15 minute call with a leader, all for a role that pays less than an entry level BDR role at any start up.
I was initially very excited about this opportunity. The compensation was below industry standard, but given the mission, I was willing to be flexible.
The final interview started off well, with one interviewer who was warm and easy to talk to. However, a second interviewer sitting in was noticeably rude and dismissive for much of the conversation. Toward the end, when I tried to get clarity on a few points, the tone became sarcastic and dismissive rather than collaborative. It felt less like a conversation and more like being tested or caught out, which was enough that I withdrew from the process shortly after.
It also seems like this company overextends its employees, expecting people to take on far more than is reasonable, especially given the below market pay.
The unfortunate truth is that candidates are evaluating a company just as much as the company is evaluating them. This experience made clear that isn’t fully understood internally, and how someone is treated in an interview says a lot about how they’d be treated as an employee.

I was honestly so impressed by this process! Everyone was detail oriented and kind. I also felt like the recruiting team prepared me well. I joined Headway a month ago and it's been such a breath of fresh air so far. I'd recommend!
