The Recruiter showed up late to my interview to let me know she'd just accepted an offer for this role and it was no longer available. She felt it was a better experience to show up late and explain than cold cancel. Fair.
The Interviewer then proceeded to tell me that this same position may open up in the future, so if I wanted to continue, I was welcome to.
I inquired about another position I'd seen on the site that better aligned with my background and years of experience. It had just been posted that week, and I asked if I could also apply or be considered for that role. The interviewer said they were in final rounds with candidates and wouldn't be considering new applications....but the role is still posted for others to apply... uhh ok.
Feeling put off, I figured I might as well just do the interview since I'd already juggled my schedule around it and at the very least this was good practice for another interview I had coming up with a different company.
I realized very quickly from the interviewer's lack of questions for me, disinterest in my questions and RBF that her offer to conduct the interview was disingenuous. Honestly the entire process just felt really messy and very hollow. I was so excited about the company's mission but my interviewer's lack of presence and her insincerity really put me off to the company as a whole.
