      Marketing Interview

      Nov 17, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Burlington, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 2 months. I interviewed at HealthcareSource (Burlington, MA)

      Interview

My interview experience here was very negative. The interview process was, for the level of the role, extensive. There was a phone interview with a recruiter, a phone interview with the hiring manager, 2 more phone interviews with 3 other team members, 3 writing samples from previous roles, a written assignment, a personality test given two times, two 4+ hour in person interviews with the recruiter, hiring manager and CMO and I had to give a presentation to the whole team. At the end of this, they requested 5 references and told me I would hear from them in 3 days. The reference process was automated, so all 5 of my references received an email and submitted their feedback. I waited 5 days and heard nothing, so I followed up with the recruiter. I was told they were still in the process, and to hold tight. I waited another week and heard nothing, so I again followed up with the recruiter via email. I did not ever receive a response to my inquiry, despite emailing once more after that. I had to take a significant amount of time away from my current job to complete this interview process and received positive feedback from the recruiter throughout. Not receiving an offer after the extensive process is just part of interviewing - you won't get every role you pursue and there is stiff competition for desirable roles. For a company to take me through the entire process, provide positive feedback, and tell me I'll hear in 3 days, only to never even let me know one way or the other, and flat out ignore my follow up, is very rude, dismissive and unprofessional. I have never received radio silence from any other company after making it through the final round. A canned "Thank you for your time, however, we've decided to go with another candidate" email would have been the bare minimum. Going so far as to request references at the end of the process from 5 of my former managers and colleagues was embarrassing. I had to answer their well meaning follow up questions by thanking them for taking the time to provide references, but letting them know I did not ever receive an answer. This treatment of a candidate is in direct contradiction to the values they espouse regarding their culture and treatment of employees, not to mention a bit ironic since their product is talent management software meant to enable and improve applicant tracking, recruitment optimization, reference checking, etc. Ultimately, I felt very led on by this company and the employees, and have low confidence in their talent management products given my experience with their own recruitment process.
