I interviewed for a technical support position at Healthfirst's lower Manhattan offices back in summer 2010. The interview experience was not a favorable one, to say the least. I met with two different Healthfirst representatives that day -- an HR person and a hiring manager in the department I applied to. The HR guy kept me waiting in the lobby of the building a good 20 minutes past our scheduled interview time and never apologized for his lateness. Throughout the interview, he seemed extremely rushed and preoccupied and conveyed to me the impression that he had far more important things to do with his time than to interview me. He kept answering his phone and looking at his watch every few minutes. I guess small fish like me just aren't worthy of Healthfirst's time.
The hiring manager was no more professional or courteous. He had an extremely aloof and unfriendly manner to him, resulting in an atmosphere more akin to an interrogation or funeral than to a job interview. In addition, he asked me inappropriate personal questions about my nationality and origin of my name, which I felt were completely uncalled for.
Needless to say, I was not invited back for further interviewing and was not extended a job offer from Healthfirst. Oh, well -- I guess it was my loss (or was it?).
