I applied for the position and received a phone call from the HR department from the US to ask why I was interested in the position. After 3 days I got invited for a face to face interview which I did attend the following 2 weeks.
Very unprofessional process.
My experience was negative because the hiring manager was very discouraging, when you make a mistake or say something they do not expect, they do not take time to listen to you until the end. Interviewers put too much pressure on me after asking a question, I felt like they were looking for a 5 year experienced student for a placement position.
Further, I did not get a response neither a feedback about how the interview went, I had to chase them after a week and 5 days the HR officer phoned me to give some feedback.
One other major point I need to mention is that, I was told I would get refund for travelling expenses down to Duxford as I live in London, I have emailed them for 4 weeks up till now no reply. They have just been ignoring my emails and not picking up calls.
My advice is:
1- when doing interviews try not to put pressure on candidates as they are already knowing that they have to fight to get an offer. Being under pressure is the worst feeling ever and causes panic.
2- Second it is at best impolite, and at worst unprofessional, when someone has invested a day of their time and perhaps half a tank of petrol in exploring a potential career with the company and have to chase the company with numerous emails and calls to get refunded.
3- Third, take time to give candidates feedback, if we take time to prepare for interviews, doing extensive research I think we deserve to get feedback whether good or not it helps to improve and get better. WE ARE ARE STUDENTS AND IF WE KNEW WHAT YOU THINK WE DO, WE WOULD NOT SEEK WORK EXPERIENCE.
