A 15 minute cold call to learn more about me, ask questions about experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Within the next 7-10 days there's a video interview with one of the hiring managers. I felt belittled and embarrassed to ask questions that the hiring manager deemed as "obvious." I asked what a day in the life of a restaurant manager looks like at Hillstone and they said "Well that seems obvious. you've worked in the restaurant business before. Don't you have an idea of what a restaurant manager is doing?" I also asked about DEI and they said "We're fortunate enough to have a nice mix of men and women working for us at Hillstone." I almost lost my lunch with that answer. A knowledgeable and respected employer should not base diversity metrics only of cis-normative gender identity. I was scared to ask about how they treat / protect the LGBTQ+ community after so much pushback on what I felt were appropriate and relevant questions. It's disappointing because I don't think this employee represents the Hillstone experience, but needless to say it definitely wasn't the right fit and they should not be in HR.

Once your interview is confirmed via email you are connected by regional director before in person interview. Director will then give you a call, mine took about 30 minutes. After three days, I got an email for a follow up interview at the location I was applying at. This interview will be in person.

The interview was a phone face time interview for approximately thirty minutes or so. I was asked for what experience I had managing large amounts of employees. I was also asked to describe a time that I had been given criticism and how I had used it to grow.
