You know that girl that is so nice, but for some reason you just hate her? That's Hillstone Group. While they are very nice and professional, they are complete mean girls. They have high expectations for their employees, yet offer no grace, no understand, and NO HYGENE. I completed the million step interview process. After being tossed around for three months traveling from city to city and having a zillion phone/skype interviews, I feel like I have a good insight on their company. DON'T WORK FOR THE MEAN GIRL. Their kitchens are disgusting. I haven't eaten at a restaurant since. My initial interview in their kitchen was slave labor. I worked for six hours without pay. I thought someone would be observing me.... nope. They left me all alone with people who didn't even speak English. I did my best to communicate (thinking surely their watching this on camera and laughing) and was able to complete the tasks given to me by their chefs. After I finished time in the kitchen I was asked to assist in the dining room. They paired me up with a hostess, who looked at me and said "What am I suppost to do with you?" and walked away. Awkwardly standing there, not looking like I was busy, with no authority to correct the hostess, I smiled and greeted people at the door. A few weeks later I was asked to come in again. However, I was told that if I did not find the correct fit suit then I could no longer interview with Hillstone group. Let me tell you something, till my initial interview I only owned skirt suits (because I am a woman), but I went out and bought a straight legged suit prior to my interview. But there was something wrong with my straight legged pants. They had to be flared. Oh and my jacket? It was too big. I needed to get it tailored. I felt like I was rushing for a sorority all over again. Being hazed. However, I kept going along with it. Thinking "surely this will get better. They want me to be on their team." Let's not forget that every manager I talked to was 1. A woman 2. Over six feet tall 3. A control freak 4. Mean as the devil 5. Ivy League Educated 6. Have no kitchen or dining room experience. Let's also not forget to mention that they think its a good idea to have six managers on-call at once...and then every few months move them around the country. As a waitress, I would KILL myself. One person tells you to do this, another tells you to correct this, who is your boss?? Then in just a matter of months, you got a whole new boss to adapt and get used to. One last thing, they treat their kitchen workers like they are the scum of the earth. Someone needs to call the Human Rights Organization, because this company has to be violating people who aren't as "educated" as them. It's like I'm watching Django Unchained. Oh yes and there is one more thing. They claim they make everything from scratch, everything is all natural and organic. I watched them open a frozen apple pie...read the ingredients. Full of sodium and preservatives. Someone call the FDA please.
