A recruiter reached out to me regarding a UI developer in Dallas, TX. I was scheduled for two interviews, half n hour each. One technical and one problem solving (probably LeetCode style).
The first interview was technical questions and about my previous experience. It was mostly based on React, Redux and JavaScript. I answered most of them well.
The interviewer was so rude and seemed disinterested. She gave me a scenario and asked me how would solve it using React. I followed up with a clarifying question and she got so angry that I asked her a question! She vented out her frustration and repeated the same vague question again.
- Scenario: You have two screens, one is product list and other is a cart. When the user selects a product, it needs to show up in the cart. How will you design it in React.
- Follow up: The question was a bit vague, so I asked by two screens does she mean two separate components or two different apps interacting with each other.
The second interview was for scheduled 30 mins after the first interview. And guess what, nobody bothered to show up.
Both these interviews were supposed to be taken by people from Mumbai, India(+12 hrs CT). For them, the time would have been 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM respectively. Maybe, they were working overtime so the first interviewer was frustrated and second interviewer did not bother to show up.
I reached out to the recruiter immediately and he told me that my performance in the interview was not good. I definitely do not think so. I did fairly well and deserved a second interview. At least an intimation that they will not be moving forward with me for the second round. I was waiting like fool for 40min to 50min for the second interview to happen.
These people have no respect towards other peoples time and I can't even imagine what the culture at the company is like.
