I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Hortonworks (Santa Clara, CA) in Feb 2016
Interview
After the phone screen, I was given a technical take home. I had to create a presentation on a couple of technical challenges using the HortonWorks Hadoop platform. Presented over a video conference with a couple of people, which was a bit awkward. I did not get to the on site interview.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Hortonworks (Dallas, TX) in Jul 2015
Interview
Recruiter intro, Recruiter technical screen, 2 technical telephonic discussions with System Architects, Discussion with Regional Director, mini project on AWS, Final in-person presentation/technical discussion with Regional directory and System Architect. The process took a bit since there was a revamp in the interview process. But the recruiter was very helpful and always reachable. She kept me informed on the current status, next steps and always made sure to circle back. Every single interviewer I spoke to was very professional, courteous and practical. After my in-person, I was made an offer very quickly. I did not have to negotiate much since the offer was in-line with my expectations. The recruiter took the time to answer all my questions to ensure that I felt comfortable signing the offer.
