2-3 phone screens, followed by an in-depth coding expercise requiring a minumum of 8-10hrs to complete and then presentation of same. Overall a thoughtful process, but the details of the exercise were lacking and so it tested your problem solving resolve.

Received a request on Linkedin about a possible opening. I entertained the notion and set up my first phone interview with someone on the West coast. The first phone interview went really well. No real dive into the technical, just asking my experience with different products. All went well and he said he would pass me on to the next round of the interview process. Next phone interview was with someone with a bit more knowledge of the tools. This time it was a guy on the East coast. Same basic questions really - Just trying to understand my background and more understanding of the position, etc. He explained that he thought the interview went really well and I seemed like a good candidate for the position. He mentioned it would be up to the regional director to interview further, but saw no reason why he would not want to interview. After a week, I emailed back asking if there was any status. He said that the guy was really busy and there would be no chance to schedule anything in the next week. He provided me the guys cell phone # and said the guy asked to have me to txt him the next week because we would be in the same town. The next week arrived and I texted as instructed. It was determined that we would meet around lunch time the next day. As lunch arrived I texted to make sure we were still on - no response. I texted mid-way through lunch - no response. I run into the guy sometime after lunch and introduced myself as the candidate for the SE position. We had a brief discussion, but nothing serious. He spent most of the next few minutes on his phone and/or talking to other people. No real interest or engagement in what I had to say. I just took it as he was busy. After a bit he said that he had to run to a meeting but we would circle back around to finish things up. He apologized for being so short. It became obvious later on that he was there because I had cornered him. A week goes by and I decide to txt 3rd interviewer to let me know when we can circle back around. No response. I email interviewer #2. Finally I get an answer that #3 did not consider it a good fit. Totally understandable, but weird I had to get closure from someone else. It's obvious there is no respect for someones time or schedule further up the chain.
