Interview
I applied to Houzz not once but twice. The first time around I made it all the way through and not only did I not receive an offer, I didn't even receive an explanation. A year later, I applied again (this time for a slightly different position and more experience). I know a lot of people who work at Houzz and they agreed to let me come back for another round of interviews. This time around I did much more research, was much more prepared and had nothing but great conversations and interactions with all the people I interviewed with. They even asked me at the end when I could start, if I had any upcoming vacations, so on and so forth. I remember saying to myself "Well. they definitely wouldn't make me go through this entire process again if they weren't really interested in me..." I was grateful.
I walked out of there thinking I had it in the bag. To my surprise, I received the SAME GENERIC email that I had received a year ago. Again, with no explanation. I even asked if I could speak with someone and receive some sort of professional or personal feedback. After that... silence.
Just a heads up, Houzz, I understand you cannot personally speak to everyone you reject, however, when you have a candidate go through the entire process twice and you think it's okay to send them an identical generic email again. That might as well be a slap in the face. I've gone through many interviews and never have I encountered a company with absolutely no common courtesy.
Met with recruiter then hiring manager and team lead manager I would be working with. Pretty fast overall process once they have reached out to you. Several quick questions about experience and then metrics into their company and what the role entails.
It was an efficient process. One phone interview with their recruiter and then an in person interview with a manager. Role playing was part of the interview process (the manager gave me a specific complaint and I had to resolve the customer’s problem).
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Houzz
Interview
Thorough but comfortable! I had multiple interviews, but everyone was very personable. They requested an at home typing speed test (to be completed after the first interview) and asked me to email the results to the recruiter.
