Start with phone screening with recruiting manager then in person interview on site in Palo Alto. Another follow-up phone call with recruiting manager before on site to basically prep for the interview ie what to expect during the interview. In person interview includes meeting a panel of the Accounting team members including hiring manager; a talent manager (who just happened to be there) then VP of Finance.
My overall interview experience was neutral:
1. Recruiting manager did a great job explaining the process and followed up promptly with not moving forward with the process.
2. Accounting panel led by the Controller was unorganized. Controller didn't have a lot of questions to ask and the Accountants were given the eyes by the Controller to ask questions - not smooth. A few times I had to jump in and ask my own questions just to fill the dead silent awkward moments. They were totally not prepared and trained how to conduct an interview. Accountants asked the most traditional interview questions. Controller was on his laptop not sure if he's listening, taking notes or doing works.
3. Talent manager was courteous and asked directly for things that called out as "red flags" which could be intimidating if you're not prepared.
4. VP Finance was there to do another check on "fit" for the company and team. Friendly and courteous.
I felt welcomed going into the interview and didn't feel hiring manager was excited or interested to learn about my experience and background. The rest of accounting was there just because they were told to be there and didn't really contribute to the process in my opinion.
