      Sales Executive Interview

      Feb 24, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Phoenix, AZ
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Houzz (Phoenix, AZ) in Jan 2017

      Interview

There were about 3 different steps: the first being the phone call - the recruiter had reached ut to me via LinkedIn and I thought it sounded interesting so I would take the call. The call was just a lot of basic questions asking me about my current job position and asking about my college background with a little information about Houzz. The second part was a "Open Houzz" Interview where you spent 5 minutes with a sales manager and they somehow manage to make an accurate analysis of who you are and how you'd fit in their world. Last step was a Skype interview with the hiring manager in OC who I might add was one of the most arrogant people I've ever met. He asked me a lot of repetitive questions but switched around the way he said it and it felt as though he wasn't listening to a word I said. Overall, the process wasn't good. Everyone treated me like I was a burden wasting their time and I couldn't fathom why I was even going forward with it. When it got to the last step and I had Skyped with the hiring manager, I had decided right then and there that this wasn't a company I wanted to work with. The manager didn't ask anything personal about me, he didn't make it light or appealing, he just sat there drilling me for about 45 minutes. Wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

      Interview

There were several interviews that include a role-play and detailed questions about high school and college. They were focused on being #1's in everything they do and the only team members they were looking for. The focus on college clubs and the summer before college was a little strange since it's for a mid-level sales role. Overall the company office was nice and the culture seemed energetic.

      Question 1

What did you do the summer between high school and college? What clubs were you involved in during college?

      Interview

You sit in a room, they call you, you go over a script + sell them on a product. After, they bring you in for questions. I had two separate interviews; the second was only about 10-15 minutes long

      Sydney

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Houzz (Sydney) in Sep 2018

      Interview

      1. Initial Phone Screening 2. Meeting with a potential future Colleague 3. Interview with Sales Manager 4. Role Play 5. Telephone Call with Senior Management. Unfortunately (or fortunately for me), I did not get past the initial screening due to the fact that I was not 'bubbly' and despite having relevant experience, it was not enough for them.
