I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Houzz (San Diego, CA) in Feb 2017
Interview
This was one of the weirdest and robotic interviews I've ever experienced. I have 6+ years of relevant experience and had a current employee vouch for me and I didn't get past HR. First, was a phone screening with a girl from HR, then I filled out a form (which asked very odd questions... including what I made on my W2 last year, to list out every single job I've ever held, and what extra organizations I've been a part of), then I had an in person interview with a different HR girl. She was late to my interview and then continued to rattle off questions as if she had them memorized and this was all she did every day. There was no back and forth or sense of conversation. She literally asked me how I got every job I've ever had (including back in HS) and then the reason I left each of these jobs. I would respond in a thoughtful way and then there was less than a second before she would spit out the next question. I understand that every company has their own secret sauce for bringing the right people on but I didn't get it. I've held a job since I was 16, had more than enough experience, had an inside referral, played sports through HS and college, and I still didn't get asked to the next round. The message I got was extremely generic and not even sent from the girl who interviewed me so of course they couldn't give me the details because they weren't a part of my interview. I'm not that upset because I found out that the base was $37,500 no matter what your experience was. Even if they offered it to me, I would have had an issue with that so maybe they thought I was over qualified or not willing to accept the salary.. but you would still think they could tell me that and be open.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time that you failed.
What were the reasons you left that job?
How did you get this job?
Tell me about your role?
Why do you think you would be good in a sales capacity?
Met with recruiter then hiring manager and team lead manager I would be working with. Pretty fast overall process once they have reached out to you. Several quick questions about experience and then metrics into their company and what the role entails.
It was an efficient process. One phone interview with their recruiter and then an in person interview with a manager. Role playing was part of the interview process (the manager gave me a specific complaint and I had to resolve the customer’s problem).
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Houzz
Interview
Thorough but comfortable! I had multiple interviews, but everyone was very personable. They requested an at home typing speed test (to be completed after the first interview) and asked me to email the results to the recruiter.
