A recruiter with Houzz arranged the interview. I then had two follow-up interviews with managers. The interview consisted of a sample customer service scenario to test my customer service skills.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked basic questions and had me do a sample customer service scenario. They gave me some time to study the product they would be calling about and then went in the other room and called the phone in the interviewing room and pretended to be a customer. I then had to field the questions they asked about the product.

      Interview

First, you receive an email to schedule a phone interview with a recruiter. Based on that, you receive another email inviting you to an "Open Houzz" event where you learn more about the company in a group setting, followed by a brief five-minute meeting with a hiring manager. If called back, you are sent a questionnaire to complete prior to the next interview. During the next interview, you start off with a 30-minute activity, followed by a longer, more in-depth interview with a hiring manager. If this goes well, you will receive an email for the final interview and this is also where they do your background check. The final interview is a role-play exercise, followed by an interview with a different hiring manager. They check references and will give you a call if you got the job.

      Marketplace Operations Coordinator Interview

      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Irvine, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Houzz (Irvine, CA) in Jun 2016

      Interview

There are 3-4 steps to the interview process. First is a phone interview where they get a sense of your personality and phone etiquette since most, if not all of their job openings involve calling customers/sellers. The second may include an "open Houzz" where you meet at the office location with other candidates and are shown a presentation describing what they do and their office culture. After the presentation, each person is taken aside for a 5-10 minute quick interview to review your resume. The third/second interview is the assesment/formal interview. For this step of the interview process you are asked to complete a questionnaire prior to going in for your interview. At the interview itself you will be asked to complete a task within 30 minutes. The task is just being familiar with using their website and creating ideabooks. The formal interview is what you would expect, typical interview questions. The last interview is when they run a background check and ask for references, you are also asked to come to the office again for a "role play" and an additional formal interview with a different manager. The role play is just doing a mock phone call with a customer/seller pretty easy and actually entertaining. Again, the formal interview was the usual types of questions. Bottom line, It was kind of a negative experience because they wasted so much of my time and went through so many interviews for a SIMPLE entry level position that most people are over qualified for. Word of advice, do not get your hopes up. Just because you make it to the final interview doesn't mean you'll get the job. As you will see on this website about 60% of the people who made it to this point didn't even get the job. Just try your best :)
