      Digital Marketing Associate Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Houzz

      Interview

I went through an assignment and then a phone interview with the hiring manager. The job description clearly states this is an entry-level position that doesn't require prior experience - do not believe this! Luckily, I have almost 2 years of related experience so I was able to pass the assignment (setting up a Google Adwords campaign). I assumed the phone interview was a phone screen with the recruiter who had emailed me to set it up - however, it turned out to be a very technical interview with the hiring manager. My mistake for assuming that, but regardless the level of technical detail the interview required was nowhere close to entry-level. I have some marketing experience, but the questions drilled into formulas on excel and specific features on Google Adwords that very few people would be able to answer off the top of their head. If I had known they were looking for somebody with considerable expertise, I wouldn't have applied and wasted my time. On the other hand, the people with considerable expertise probably also wouldn't bother with this entry-level associate position. Definitely a red flag with their hiring process!!!!
