I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Houzz (Berlin) in May 2019
Interview
It was a three step interview; the first was a phone interview with an HR manager where we went through my resume and general HR questions. I moved on to the second round where it was a Role play exercise, had a skype interview with an HR manager and the direct manager I would be working with, you basically go through a `phone call`with a prospective client that they provide information about before hand and you try to sell them an upgrade of their account to Houzz Pro+. The interviewer played the `uninformed´ client asking questions like I dont use houzz, why would I need it, ive only used word of mouth to do my marketing, and you basically have to persuade them of the opportunities that they would achieve with the Pro+ account when it comes to receiving more projects.
They questioned me a lot about my interest in sales due to my background and past work experience, they also asked about other jobs I had been applying to and why they were so different. I quickly realized that I would not be suited for a job like that, calling 60+ clients a day just trying to sell them an upgrade, I do not think you need any specific background for this position, just that you enjoy speaking on the phone for the entire day.

Question 1
Why are you interested in a job in sales
Tell me about a time where you were in a group and one individual wasnt pulling their weight
How do you deal with criticism/negative feedback from a boss
Great company to work for. They have a stringent hiring process. You will have multiple interviews followed by a presentation at the end. All in all they want to see if you understand their platform and user mentality. Big props if you show your personality or if you have a positive attitude it will go a long way. It was definitely gruelling but totally fair as the job itself is quit full on.

Question 1
Why Houzz? Why sales? You don't seem like a salesperson.. (I don't). Very blunt but direct.
Houzz places a large emphasis on role playing in the interview process, both for external and internal roles. It's daunting in the moment but is actually good practice and gives interviewers a good sense of how you think on your feet
