      Interview

General overview of past experiences and goals. It was just with a hiring manager so it was one on one. The tone was relatively casual with difficult questions. Definitely study the company background

      Interview

The interview process was typical and straight forward. However, there was a 3 round series to meet with upper management and also the team I’d be directly working with to be sure it was a good fit. The interview questions were typical and more so conversational.

      Associate Buyer Interview

      Sep 10, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Irvine, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Houzz (Irvine, CA) in Jun 2019

      Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter for this position and was not given any background on the company. I did some research before the company but it seemed like the interviewers were not interested in me as a person or my experience. For the first interview, I interviewed with five different managers which made it tiring and an incredibly long and grilling process. I was there for 3 hours. I felt like I repeated myself with each manager. I had described my previous workplace as old-fashioned where they wanted you to keep your head down since they didn't welcome new ideas and one interviewer replied with, "Same goes for here" which was discouraging and makes me not want to work for Houzz. I didn't feel like they wanted to know more but just assumed I was bad-talking on my former employer but my former employer has a 2-star rating on Glassdoor whom I sued and also received settlement for. It seems that their Associate Buyer role is a lot like sales as my impression is that they have to make a lot of cold-calls for leads and to convince their leads to put their products on the Houzz marketplace. I also have a negative outlook of their company future and seriously doubt it will be successful when they try to go public. Won't be applying again.
