I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Houzz (Irvine, CA) in Sep 2014
Interview
I interviewed at the Irvine location. The entire process felt very strange. The internal recruiter seemed primarily focused on extracurricular activities in high school and college. As I am over 30 years old and have been working professionally for over 8 years, it threw me off to be asked about club involvement and high school jobs I held prior to working professionally. I think this position would be best suited for someone fresh from college seeking sales experience. It is pure inside sales with no continuing customer relationship management, just a few phone calls to basically sell advertising. The base if $37K, non-negotiable. They expect you in at 6am as well.

Question 1
What would your last direct supervisor say about you in terms of your weaknesses/areas needing improvement? If you could do any job in the world and money was not an issue, what would it be?
Great company to work for. They have a stringent hiring process. You will have multiple interviews followed by a presentation at the end. All in all they want to see if you understand their platform and user mentality. Big props if you show your personality or if you have a positive attitude it will go a long way. It was definitely gruelling but totally fair as the job itself is quit full on.

Question 1
Why Houzz? Why sales? You don't seem like a salesperson.. (I don't). Very blunt but direct.
Houzz places a large emphasis on role playing in the interview process, both for external and internal roles. It's daunting in the moment but is actually good practice and gives interviewers a good sense of how you think on your feet
