UNPROFESSIONAL, UNORGANIZED, RUDE, DISINGENUOUS.
It felt like I was trying out for a sorority, not a job.
First of all, I read plenty of reviews on Glassdoor about this company and stupidly applied anyway. I usually take negative reviews with a grain of salt, but I really should have listened to the 50 other people that said they had the same experience I did.
I regret the time I spent waiting around on this company. They have no respect for people's time and that is probably my biggest complaint. I believe they went through the majority of the interview process with the intention of not hiring me and the whole process dragged on probably 2-3 weeks. The phone interview went well, but the recruiter (who was very nice, honestly the ONLY genuinely nice woman -- yeah everyone's a woman) gave me an incorrect phone interview time and also included a smiley in one of her emails. I found this pretty unprofessional but ignored it. Next was the Skype interview. The woman administering my Skype interview seemed like she really could not care less about me or my responses to the questions. It was scheduled on a Friday afternoon and she seemed like she was ready to leave for the weekend. She did not make eye contact, talked quickly and seemed rushed, and overall seemed very antsy and disinterested. I honestly didn't expect a third interview after how the Skype went, but I got one anyway (which I think they probably do even if they don't actually intend to hire you). Here's where it gets really good.
I arrive for my final interview, a role play, in the office. Mind you, this was maybe 2 and a half weeks after my initial phone interview. I assume, since I'm visiting the office, I would be having an in-person interview. It's not until I'm called back from the waiting room to begin my interview that the recruiter at the front desk (who, by the way is wearing an old t-shirt, leggings, dirty nike shoes, has dirty hair, and no makeup on) informs me that the hiring manager is across the country and I will be doing my entire interview through Skype... again. I was honestly pretty offended by the fact that they brought me down to the office only to not even interview face to face with someone. This threw me off completely. The role play did not go extremely well, but it was okay. I felt lost at times becuase I have no previous sales experience and told the interviewer this. She replies that sales experience really isn't necessary for the position. (Then why are you forcing people to showcase their sales skills for the interview...?) Anyway, the same thing with this woman as the first Skype interviewer. Seemed completely disinterested, kept looking around the room and not paying attention to me. Her micro-expressions told me everything I needed to know (that I'm not hired) and she kept making very judgmental faces, almost like a high school girl auditioning someone for her clique. I thought the entire thing was very rude and it made me uncomfortable to be interviewing with someone who was acting like I was a huge inconvenience and bore.
All of this to receive a rejection email that is copied verbatim (I know this because another close friend of mine also applied to the position and also got rejected for some unknown reason). The email includes some truly touching sentiments about how it was a hard decision and they regret they're moving forward with another candidate, that I was a pleasure to talk to and I will make a great employee for someone else, blah blah blah. Literally this is a template they send to everyone they reject. They didn't even give a real reason. And I suspect it's because they didn't have one. They are looking to fill their office with 23-year old blonde girls who "are a good fit" for the "culture" which is agist (and I'm in my early 20s), sexist (95% of employees were women), and discriminatory in so many different ways I can't even begin to list. I'm honestly not sure what I did wrong and they definitely didn't care enough to explain it, nonetheless send a genuine, personalized rejection email.
Basically, if you don't have a month to spare getting the run around, you're not a 22 year old blonde woman, and aren't "super hip", do not waste your time. They will lead you on the entire time only to send you a generic, fake email thanking you for applying. The entire process and company itself feels very unorganized, unprofessional, fake, and judgmental. Please listen to the other reviewers that say the same thing I am right now. I didn't listen to them and now regret it. I have a feeling they probably only hire friends of current employees or some cool, trendy mold that I apparently do not fit. The hiring process is absolutely not based on merit but something else that is honestly complete BS.
