Honestly I though at first that this was a silly question. Once I started to answer it was clear the interviewer was really trying to get inside my head to see how I developed skills and worked with others. At the end of the session the interviewer commented that the space the firm works in is rapidly developing and thus they're very interesting in seeing how people learn to help determine if they will be a good fit for the team. They said something along the lines of "there's no textbook for data science that we can just make everyone read, things are changing every day so we all need to learn and more forward in this space together."
