The process takes around two to three weeks and has three steps. Everyone is helpful, responsive, and collaborative here!
1. ) Recruiter phone screen (30 mins) - Basic questions about your past sales experience, deal size, average deal cycle, quotas, salary expectations, percentage of new logo accounts you are acquiring, upselling and cross-selling expertise and hiring timeline. There were some behavioral questions in this step, such as tell me about a time when you handled an outrageous request from a customer?
2.) Video discovery call role-play type of interview with the sales manager (60 mins) - The leaders are highly competent, conversational, and transparent. Usually, tech companies don't give interview feedback, but HubSpot does since one of their value is transparency. You'll get an opportunity to learn about your strength and weakness. There were one or two behavioral questions, but it was a very conversational back and forth Q& A.
3.) Panel interview (3.5hrs) - Back-to-back interviews with three other sales managers. 20% high-level questions such as why HubSpot, why sales, and why are you the best fit for the role? 80% of Behavioral questions are digging into your sales skills of prospecting, building a book of business, creativity, grit, and track record of closing deals.
Comparing HubSpot to other big tech companies I interviewed for, I appreciated how fast the team got back to me with feedback to move forward (same-day turnaround time).
HubSpot's values are HEART which stands for humility, empathy, adaptability, remarkable, and transparency. HubSpot prioritizes culture fit, so you'll probably do well if this sounds like your values!
I was blessed to work with a fantastic, collaborative, and communicative recruiter who continuously kept me in the loop and answered my emails quickly. Don't be afraid to ask for help and feedback. Good luck, and have fun!
