HubSpot Finance Associate interview questions

I had an over the phone interview with the recruiter. She was very nice and the questions were not difficult at all. Typical "tell me about yourself" questions. I thought it went smoothly and I was very happy with the interview. Unfortunately, they went with an internal hire and I didn't get to the next steps in the hiring process. I was impressed that they actually called to tell me about their positions. I interviewed with a lot of companies throughout my career and I never received a call back telling me I didn't get the job. It was a pleasant surprise. Why do companies keep people waiting? They encouraged me to keep looking at their websites and to apply to anything else I would be interested in.
