      Inbound Growth Specialist Interview

      Sep 28, 2020
      Anonymous employee
      Chicago, IL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at HubSpot (Chicago, IL) in Sep 2020

      Interview

My interview process with HubSpot took 7 weeks from the recruiter reaching out (after I submitted my resume through a referral) to receiving an offer in my inbox. The steps included: 1) 15-30 min phone screen call with the recruiter 2) 30 min phone call with the hiring manager 3) 30-45 min mock discovery/qualification phone call with a sales manager, including a feedback session 4) 15 min phone call with recruiter to prep for the next 2 interviews 5) 1 hour Zoom call with 2 sales managers 6) 1 hour Zoom call with 2 more sales managers 7) 30 minute Zoom call with Director of Sales I really enjoyed my interview process with HubSpot because though there were many steps and it took almost 2 months, not only were the recruiter and hiring team extremely transparent throughout, but it was great getting to meet so many of the people I will be working with in the near future throughout this process. None of the interviews felt like fluff and I was only asked valid/relevant questions that covered their culture, my role knowledge as well as gave me the opportunity to ask questions and vet out the role/company for myself. They're motivated to let the hiring process be just as much for you as it is for them, and I felt wanted and welcomed the entire time. Be sure to prepare by understanding their culture, and bring good examples of not only times you succeeded, but also times you failed and what you learned - Growth mindset and coachability is huge here. And of course, be a good human! Everyone was kind and open, and you get a great feel for the people you will be surrounded with every day. Great process.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me about your proudest accomplishment that is not work or family related/Tell me about a complex sale you lead/Tell me about a time you did not close a deal and what you would change (lots of 'tell me' behavioral questions) What is the biggest area you will need to be coached on with your manager?

Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review, and I'm so glad you found our process valuable. Our team cares deeply about a rich process where you really get a sense of what it would be like to work at HubSpot (both through the people you meet and the topics covered in the interviews). Your push on a growth mindset is spot on - we care way more about how people learn and grow than all of their successes, and love seeing how that shows up in the interview process. So glad you decided to join us, welcome to HubSpot!

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Singapore) in Feb 2020

      Interview

I really enjoyed the interview process at HubSpot. It wasn’t a conventional interrogation-style process, but rather a genuine two-sided conversation where I had a chance to learn more about HubSpot, and the interviewers had an opportunity to learn about me on a professional and personal level. I was approached by a recruiter on LinkedIn who shared with me about the role. The same week we had a brief initial call, followed by a behavioural interview, sales discovery call role play with a hiring manager, and finished it off with an on-site 3 hour panel interview. The turnaround time between interview rounds was just a few days, and the entire process took around 2-3 weeks. The recruiting team did an incredible job! I was guided through every step of the interview process - I was provided with a detailed and very comprehensive picture of what to expect from each round as well as helpful resources to get prepared.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

There were a lot of behavioural type questions. Interviewers asked to share about past experiences, professionally and personally, where you exemplify the traits that will help you thrive at your role, and be the right cultural fit for HubSpot. For example, share how you handle adversity. Would your rather walk away from a deal or have an unhappy customer?

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (New Delhi) in Aug 2019

      Interview

Very systematic and through. The team provided me adequate information on the interview process and stages to understand the expectations. The team was quick in terms of informing me when I cleared each step. The company focuses a lot on the fitment with respect to the culture.
