I wasn't considering writing this review until someone in my network was thinking of applying for a position with HubSpot and I didn't want them to have the disrespectful and disappointing experience that I had had with them.
I applied online and was contacted within 3 days to book in a phone screen, where I was put forward for the CSM - Strategic Accounts position. A 1:1 interview with the hiring manager was booked for the following week whilst I was on this call.
I met with the hiring manager, and the interview ended with me asking 'based off of my experience and interviews so far, do you have any concerns in me seeing success in this position?'
The hiring manager said that she did not have any concerns. She valued my experience in CX (I'm currently a CX Leader for a software company), my customer focused approach and said that my operational experience will make me very successful in this position. She then said that she would be asking HR to progress me to the following round which would be the presentation round.
I waited close to 3 weeks to be contacted by HubSpot regarding the next steps the hiring manager had set the expectations of. I emailed the recruiter weekly to follow up and understand what the timeline would be and I didn't receive a single response.
After two emails between the 28th of October (interview with the hiring manager) and the 11th of November, I received a voicemail from the recruiter. Despite attempts on my end via phone and email to arrange a time to speak with the recruiter, it took until the 23rd of November to connect with the recruiter.
The recruiter then advised me that the feedback from the hiring manager was that they were not progressing me to the next phase and contradicted the feedback I had directly received from the hiring manager. They then recommended I look at roles that were approximately 30k below the salary range we had discussed.
The lack of communication and the contradictory feedback I received highlights some areas of concern internally at HubSpot. Whilst I feel that things have worked out for the better for me in this situation, I would hate to see anyone in my network go through a candidate experience like this.
Due to this candidate experience, I will be recommending that those in my network within the software space do not look into pursuing a career with HubSpot.
