I was referred over to the position by a current HubSpot employee. I was very excited for the position as HubSpot is a great company, the position matched my skill set, and the role was in the career path that I wanted to move forward in.
My first meeting was with Kendra, a marketing recruiter in people operations. I felt like the meeting went well and was referred to a test project..
The test project was a couple spreadsheets of sample data where you had to demonstrate excel skills and give recommendations. My project went well and was pushed forward to a 1:1 interview with the hiring manager.
The conversation with the hiring manager was pleasant and I learned a lot about the team dynamic and role. I felt like the conversation was very helpful and I was referred to the next step consisting of a panel of interviews.
The panel was 4 members of the advertising organization over the course of 3 hours. Each conversation was a little different and kept me on my toes. Still, I felt confident and excited for my chances.
Unfortunately, after all the prep and various interview steps the offer was not extended to me. Although this was my second time I’ve been at the final step with HubSpot and been passed on, I understand that it is a highly in-demand organization with an army of applicants.
I remain optimistic for an opportunity at HubSpot and it was overall a positive experience. All the HubSpotters I met were very energetic and knowledgeable. My recruiter, Kendra, was great and provided advice and material to prepare at every step of the interview. She has even volunteered her time to give me feedback from the team tomorrow.
