I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Dublin, Dublin) in Nov 2021
Interview
15 minute phone interview with internal HR recruiter, at the end of which I was told I would advance to interview with the hiring manager. In the interim I was given material to work with including instructions for testing/demo of product which I would be quizzed on.
Interview with the hiring manager consisted of usual behavioral questions, a role-play scenario and questions focused on the demo/test.
I felt the interview went well though I let myself down with a couple of technical questions. The negative aspect of the interview was when the HR recruiter failed to get back to me; I had to chase them down for an update. When I finally got on a cal with them, I was told the hiring manager thought I didn't show enough enthusiasm for the role. I was anticipating criticism of my technical answers; to be told I was not enthusiastic enough left me feeling pretty deflated considering I had spend several nights in preparation and had in my mind been extremely enthusiastic.
HubSpot prides itself on empathy as a core value etc. but forcing the candidate to close the loop on an interview and blithely telling them they lacked 'enthusiasm' struck me as particularly egregious behavior. To rub salt in the wound the HR recruiter had recently made a post on LinkedIn about how they always make sure to update their candidates, but in my experience that was not what happened.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Typical behavioral questions, a small role-play scenario in which the interview acted as a customer, and a section discussing what I had done with the assignment material.
The hiring process consists of an initial HR interview to assess cultural fit, followed by a technical interview to evaluate skills, and concludes with three separate one-on-one interviews with different managers expecting STAR responses.

Question 1
Tell me about a time you had conflict with a coworker or colleague, and how did you overcome it?
It is a 5 step interview process, with the 1st one being a phone screening, then a video call/interactive assignment, and then finally three 30 minute back to back interviews for the 3rd and final round.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot in Apr 2026
Interview
Three rounds:
-Screening with recruiter
-Technical (live troubleshooting with a manager)
-Behavioral (3-30 minute interviews with managers)
The recruiter offers prep sessions before the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Take advantage of them as they’ll explicitly walk you through how to prepare.
