Pretty long process, mine lasted almost two months. This was because I applied for two roles and initially went through the whole interview process for the Partner Success Manager (PSM) role, and then later on a partial interview process for the Customer Success Manager (CSM) position.
The PSM role was given to another candidate, so HR asked if I was still keen on the CSM role that I had also applied for. I was, and the interview panel requested I do another Role Play Interview, but this time for the CSM role as they wanted to look out for specific attributes required for the CSM position (which were not tested during the PSM Role Play Interview). HubSpot takes their hiring process very, very seriously (which I appreciate).
Essentially six rounds for PSM/CSM role:
1st Round: HR Screening Interview (30min)
2nd Round: Hiring Manager Interview (30min)
3rd Round: Role Play Interview with Senior Team Member (45min)
4th Round:
- 1x Interview with Director (30min)
- 1x Hiring Manager Interview (30min)
- 1x Case Study Interview with Another Senior Team Member (45min) - HR will email you the case study one hour before the interview
My advice:
- Know HubSpot's Culture Code
- If you have time, take the Inbound Marketing Certification course. It will help you in the Role Play and Case Study interviews
- Study, study, study as much as you can about HubSpot! You don't need to know their products on a deep/technical level, but you should have a firm understanding of what products HubSpot has and what the products can do in general. Look at their Investor Relations page, Google news about HubSpot, check out LinkedIn profiles/activities of key HubSpot people to know what's the latest news going on (e.g. new product launch, CEO's announcement of strategic goals, podcasts) - this will give you more insights into what people are caring about/focusing on at the moment, which leads to my next advice...
- Prepare a list of *thoughtful* questions to ask for each round of things you truly care / or are curious about. You will have deeper, more sincere conversations with your interviewers.
- If you're reading my post on Glassdoor, great. Go through the CSM/PSM interview questions people have posted here and think about how you would answer them.
- Don't be afraid to ask for feedback, or if the interview panel has any questions or concerns - this is your chance to understand what they are looking out for. Ensure to incorporate / apply the feedback in your next rounds.
- Apply the STAR Method. Set time aside to reflect and think through key events/challenges that happened in your career/life that shaped you This will be tested vigorously during the Hiring Manager and Director Interviews as HubSpot.
Good luck and all the best! ◡̈
